I AM An Attractive Copy Cat

4/24/21 Mysty has had a full bag for about a week, but today her milk came in big time!  Her pH is testing high

4/25/21 At 3:15 AM,  the beeper went off and baby was already on her way out when I h it the barn. The birth was easy and baby was strong. Placenta came our quickly and baby nursed right away. So very thankful for a filly that is just gorgeous!

4/27/21 Sprinkles is almost there. Her milk no longer soaks into the  pH strip. It is that ooey gooey colostrum that sits on the strip. There is a tinge, a slight tinge of green on the strip. but I expect to see baby soon. Sprinkles is  on day 338 which is her longest gestation. The rumor is that longer gestations mean a colt. Sprinkles has had 4 fillies previously.

Lassie is rubbing her bottom raw. She is dropped and ready, but her pH is high and her teats still point inwards.

4/28/21 I tested Sprinkles pH in the morning hours and her pH was low.  We were ready for baby! Lisa brought the grandchildren and spent the day here. As dusk came on,  we noticed Sprinkles standing and staring at the ground. This is not her typical behavior. We knew labor was starting. Many were praying for this baby and I am so thankful because if God hadn't alerted us, baby would be dead. The beepers did not go off because Sprinkles was laying right next to the stall wall and the wall was propping her head up. She started pushing and I peeked inside to check position, and all I saw was the deep red color of a red bag (Placenta previa). Lisa took over and pulled baby out quickly due to this situation. We could have so easily lost this baby because you only have about 6 minutes when it is a red bag. Sprinkles defied the beeper alarm and this could have easily resulted in death.  I checked baby's gender and we all started speculating on boy names. BUT,  later that evening, I went to give him an enema and discovered girl parts!! I was elated and the names had to change. We will call her Cat and her name will be I AM an Attractive Copycat! Thank you to Vicki Ronsick for the name and the help with birthing! Everyone is now schooling me on gender determination~

This is Monty's first filly and she is marked exactly like him!
